Why Obchodka

Six reasons why more and more people apply to us

No lofty promises. Every reason is backed by a concrete result you can verify.

You'll feel safe

We take an environment free of bullying and discrimination seriously. Every week the school has a school psychologist, an educational counsellor, a career adviser and a prevention coordinator – and we also have a trust box.

You'll learn how a company works

Accounting in POHODA, taxes, payroll, marketing and a business plan. In January 2026, our fourth-years won the Central Bohemian Region in the financial game Zlatý Gramoťák.

You'll get by in two languages

English in groups by level, so nobody falls behind and nobody gets bored. As an official Cambridge English centre, we let you take the B2 certificate here – and it replaces the school-set part of the maturita (school-leaving exam).

You'll try real work

Four weeks of professional placement in a company in year 3. If you want, you can go on a placement in Germany – we have worked with our partner school in Goslar since 2016.

You'll work on modern equipment

New computer labs, interactive panels, 3D printers and Wi-Fi throughout the school. Don't have your own laptop? We'll lend you one.

You have a say in the school

The Student Parliament has a representative from every class. In the 30 000 do škol project, students themselves propose, vote on and carry out improvements to the school – from a gym to a creative corner. With the ABSOLVENTI.cz platform, students also completed the school garden and the sign on the building. Student projects

On a placement you find out how things really work in a company. And you bring home a document that catches the eye of any HR manager.

  • Placements in Goslar. Up to six students a year work for three weeks in German companies. We cooperate with BBS1 Goslar and the Tandem organisation; the placement is supported by the Czech-German Future Fund and Erasmus+.
  • Europass Mobility. A Europe-wide recognised certificate of work experience abroad – every participant receives one.
  • eTwinning. International projects with schools in Slovakia and Bulgaria. In 2026 we received the National Quality Label for the ECO Business Connection project.
  • Companies come to us. Experts from the Czech National Bank, the Financial Administration, Dr. Oetker, Prosperity Financial Services and the Customs Administration teach directly in lessons.

For parents

What you need to know as parents

You are deciding on four years that will shape your child's future direction. Here is what matters.

Safety and support

The school counselling centre consists of an educational counsellor, a school psychologist, a prevention coordinator and a career adviser. Students and parents can use a free consultation with a lawyer once a month.

Systematic preparation for the maturita

From September 2026, students in years 1–3 take comprehensive exams in key subjects. The material is not learned "for a single test" but continuously – so the maturita comes as no surprise.

An overview of everything

Grades, attendance and messages from teachers in the eŽÁKOVSKÁ app. You can book an online meeting with the headmaster; all teachers have consultation hours.

Growing interest

For 2026/27 we received 266 applications for 90 places, 39 more than a year earlier. The school has 334 students and is approaching its capacity of 360.

Investment in equipment

In 2023–2025 the school was modernised: new IT and language classrooms, a lecture hall, a study room with a library, cloakrooms and relaxation zones. In 2025 alone for CZK 3.5 million.

Parents' association

The SRPDŠ association supports sport and competitions including transport, honours the best students and organises the maturita ball together with the school. At the information meeting before the start you will receive all documents and the list of textbooks.

FAQ

What you ask most often

Does the school hold its own entrance exam?
No. You only take the unified entrance exam in Czech and maths (CERMAT). On top of that we count the portfolio, the average from years 8 and 9 and any bonuses for certificates.
How many points do I need from the tests?
In 2026 the minimum was 15 points from each test for the business academy and 20 points for the economics lyceum. After that, the ranking by total points decides. Work it out in the calculator.
What is an applicant portfolio?
A short piece about you: a CV, your education, why you want to join us and a motivation letter. A maximum of four standard pages. We assess both content and layout, up to 100 points in total. How to write it.
Which second language can I choose?
Alongside English, you choose German, Spanish, French or Russian.
Do I have to have my own laptop?
You don't. The school has computer labs, and if you don't have a laptop, we'll gladly lend you one. Wi-Fi is available throughout the school.
How do I get to you?
It's about a 10-minute walk from both the bus and the train station in Slaný. The school stands at Smetanovo náměstí 1200.
Can I transfer from another secondary school?
Yes, if we have a free place. Just fill in a transfer request and arrange it with the school management.
